Overview of Outcome Resources Medication Management Reports
Comprehensive reports detailing medication utilization and related costs are generated each month based upon the prescription claims processed for your hospice (review sample reports). These reports are also evaluated by an Outcome Resources clinical pharmacist who provides additional comments and recommendations consistent with promoting high quality cost-effective drug therapy. The detailed examination that we provide of your organization's drug utilization can be beneficial in numerous ways:

  • Identification of drug categories or individual drugs that may not be appropriate for hospice benefits.
  • Identification of high-cost, high-use drugs that may have a more cost-effective therapeutic alternative available.
  • Tracking of the utilization of generic vs brand-name drugs.
  • Calculation of the average cost, average quantity, and average number of days supply of a prescription for each drug monthly.
  • Calculation of overall average monthly prescription claim cost, compared with previous months.
  • Data from these reports may be valuable in constructing a medication formulary based upon actual utilization patterns in your community.

The clinical pharmacists evaluation of your reports will provide specific recommendations, based on your actual claims data, aimed at reducing unnecessary medication use and increasing the use of cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to high-cost drugs. This is accomplished within the overriding goal of providing the most optimal clinical outcomes for your patients.
